Chris Shiflett has been busy of late, between the cluster of festival dates Foo Fighters will play in 2019, his popular podcast Walking The Floor, and his solo shows in support of his first solo studio album West Coast Town. Kicking things up a few more gears, Chris has dropped his latest single ‘This Ol World’ on all major music streaming services including Spotify and Apple Music, whetting appetites for what his follow-up album has to offer.

The second album is due for release this year, with Chris suggesting a rockier vibe than his faithful country debut. On ‘This Ol World’, Chris told NME that the song addresses the divisive politics that obscure the core issues where the groups actually share commonalities. Directly inspired by Brexit and the 2016 US election, although not naming them specifically, it speaks more of a systemic breakdown and a failure of public service to actually serve its people.

On the new album: “It’s more guitar driven, although that sounds like a funny thing to say when so much of my stuff is guitar driven. But I like exploring sounds that I don’t get to play with. ‘West Coast Town’ from my last record was super pedal steel heavy, and this new one definitely has crunchier guitar tones and it’s more of a rock and roll record.”
