I've had an idea for sometime and thought now is as good a time to bring it up. What I want to do is something similar to the Pearl Jam Green Habit compilation. If anyone's not familiar with it, its a compilation consisting of the best live performances listed as setlists, one setlist of songs for each era/tour/album of the band. I think it would be great if we could get something like that happening here and thought you guys would be interested. So who thinks it would be a good idea and wants to help me out?

It's something i've thought about doing many times, but never found the time to actually do it. Would it only be good quality soundboards, or are audience recordings part of it aswell? Because that is one issue i noticed, there aren't THAT many good soundboard recordings of some songs, and some of the best performances i can think of we only have audience recordings.

I'm open to suggestions. I think its best to use soundboard recordings where possible and make up the rest with audience recordings. Both the performance and the sound quality would be factors in the choices.

Ok well like i say i don't really have time to work on something like this, but i can definitely help you out with suggestions of good performances and flacs if needed.

Right now off the top of my head, for soundboard stuff:

Some S/T stuff on 11/15/95, Exhausted
    04/03/96
    Some TCATS stuff on 05/25/97
    08/15/97 has some good performances
Double drum into from either 01/31/98 or 02/10/98
    My Poor Brain 12/06/99
    Have A Cigar 02/29/00
    07/11/00 for some acoustic selections
11/03/00 - Double Drum into, Breakout, Stacked Actors w/ Drum Duel, Headwires, MIA
    08/17/01 - New Way Home
12/05/02 - Low and Tired Of You
05/03/05 - Deepest Blues Are Black
    10/04/06 - Acoustic tracks
07/07/07 - My Hero, Best Of You
    08/17/07 - Come Alive
    11/13/07 - Let It Die
Half solo acoustic Everlong - 09/18/07

There are tons more good performances but i'd have to listen to some shows to remember them.

EDIT: Also, would it just be good performances, or would 'different' performances also be included, performances with variations of some sort?

wow, thanks. I think i'll start ith the early stuff and work our way through. If there's enough material for an alternative version part then thats possible. For now the main priority is just getting the best versions of all the songs then the rest can come later.

    So to start, 95-96:

    This is a Call
    I'll Stick Around
    Alone + Easy Target
    Big Me
    For All The Cows
    Weenie Beenie
    Wattershed
    Exhausted
    Floaty
    X-Static
    Oh, George
    Good Grief
    Podunk
    Winnebago
    Butterflies
    How I Miss You
    Gas Chamber
    Down In The Park

we'll start with the ones with not many recordings then work through. Any songs from here that i'm missing?

I'm heading out now so i'll help more tomorrow, but i think there are soundboard recordings of all those songs. I'll help you out with this though, there are no live performances/recordings of these album tracks:

    Live In Skin
    Burn Away
Come Back (as album version, there is an early different version, only AUD though)
    Halo
    Hell
Erase/Replace (there is just a mobile phone clip i think)
    Stranger Things Have Happened
    Summers End
    Statues

So they're out, apart from that we should be good.

Ive away for awhile so I haven't had much of a chance to get to this but this is what I have so far:
    Good Grief- 95.12.31
    X-static - 95.7.28
    Oh, George - 95.7.28
    winnebago/Wattershed - 95.11.15
    Butterflies - 97.07.07

So any suggestion from anyone else so far? Would it be a good idea to throw it out to the main foo fighters board?

Apart from what i posted above, i think it would be really good to start it out with one of those really cool double drum intro's from 1998 (rather than the 2000 one's which were basically Breakout). 02/10/98 is a good soundboard of it, but i think there are a few others.

    Stacked Actors - 11/11/99 08/28/00
    Breakout - 08/19/00
    Learn To Fly - 12/11/99
    Gimme Stitches
    Generator 11/09/99
    Aurora - 10/04/99
    Next Year 08/28/00
    Headwires 11/03/00
    Ain't It The Life - 11/22/99
    M.I.A. 11/03/00

I'm getting through this, slowly. Just a quick question, when did come alive debut? and with the first and last song guide your doing for the sight, is there a draft, because it would be very helpful for this

Come Alive was debuted at the Brighton Radio 1 gig, and it is the only live SBD recording of it, but it is a good one.

I do have a draft of that guide somewhere on my PC, i'll dig it out when i get home from work for you.

So here is the update of the first installment. The ones in Red i'm happy with.
This is the Call I'd rather go with a version that isn't a closer just flow. With Down In the Park and How I Miss You versions from 04/03/96 id prefer to go with but the recordings I have is a lower quality, is there a better version of this around? And the following I wish to put up for vote, hopefully within this community but if i dont get enough interest I'll put it up on the main Foo Fighters Board.

    This Is A Call
    For All The Cows
    Big Me
    Alone + Easy Target
Floaty (which version of the song should be used?)

After this all thats left is to source the highest quality and put it all together.

This is a top idea. Is it still happening??

I think that the Green Habit tracklists were based on the date songs were first performed and that seems to work pretty well. Generally they also used soundboard recordings to get the best quality and only audience recordings if no soundboard existed.

Some things came up that distracted me, and Wheels kinda took some of my enthusiasm away but I'm still interested in completing this if you're willing to help. It gets really tough for some songs that they've played alot so i'd rather it be a collaborative effort as much as possible rather than my favourites.
