Session Information
Following a raft of activity at the Laundry Room Studio in April 1992 Grohl again headed down to the basement in May to record yet more of his own songs, added onto the same reel that already contained four Nirvana tracks. Three more of Grohl’s were put to tape on this occasion, starting with the first ever recording of the song which would later be known to Foo Fighters fans as ‘Butterflies’. At this stage, however, it had the working title ‘Red Pellet Guns’, from a lyric in the song. Grohl would in later years describe the song as “kinda ridiculous”.
The two other songs recorded on this occasion have something of a mystery surrounding them. Written on the box containing the reel, Grohl had titled them ‘What I’m About’ and ‘Back in Treatment’. When asked about the titles in later years, Barrett Jones had no recollection of the songs, and in his digitized archive found no trace of songs with those titles. What these two songs sound like then, for now, remain a mystery.
