Throughout late 2012 and 2013 Foo Fighters were writing and working on songs for what would eventually become their eighth studio album, 'Sonic Highways'. Before visiting eight studios around the United States to record the final versions of the songs in 2014 they spent many days practicing and honing the songs in the studio. One of these sessions is known to have taken place around September 2013 with Chris Shiflett posting an in-studio photo to his instagram account on September 6th, 2013.
The main focus of the photo is Pat Smear holding a guitar but in the background a whiteboard can be seen, similar to those seen in past Foo Fighters recording sessions. Whilst the photo is too small and compressed to make out any clear words it can be seen there are 13 titles, 11 of which have instruments already recorded for them.
When this session began and finished is unknown and any further details on this or any other pre-production demo sessions for 'Sonic Highways' are currently unavailable.
