2004 saw Dave once again working with Butch Vig as he joined up with his band Garbage during the recording of their album ‘Bleed Like Me’. As had been the case with Foo Fighters recording of their album ‘One By One’ recording of the album had been troubled, lead singer Shirley Manson undergoing surgery on her vocal cords after initial recording. There was a lot of tension among the band members and Grohl was one of several guests brought in to try and re-energize recording, Vig calling in a favor from his old friend. The track he recorded drums for was ‘Bad Boyfriend’, Vig not happy with his existing drum track. Grohl “brought a different energy level to the song”, according to Vig.
