This was a benefit concert aiding victims of Hurricane Sandy which caused widepread damage and killed 233 people across eight countries in October 2012. Paul McCartney was booked to perform a set and at the end he invited Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear on stage to play on a brand new song. It was unknown at the time that the song was recorded for the 2013 Sound City project. The event was simulcast live across the United States.
